Dr. Mikao Usui founded the practice of Reiki. After spending 21 days on the sacred Mount Kuri Yama, he realized the sutra on the "Buddha of Healing", a formula for contacting a higher power of healing. He developed this into Reiki, as well as the "Five Principles of Reiki".

Reiki treats the whole person balancing the energies of the physical, emotional, mental, & spiritual sides of an individual.

"Reiki" is composed of two Japanese words - "Rei" (Universal Force) & "Ki" (Life Energy). Put together Reiki means "Universal Life Force Energy".

Each person has a life force flowing through them. Negative energy has a low frequency vibratory level (& can be felt through thoughts, feelings, & the body). Reiki's energy raises the vibratory levels of both the energy fields in & around the body. This aids in removing & dissolving the negative energy that disrupts & diminishes the flow of a person's life force.

Reiki energy flows from a practitioner’s hands. An in-person reiki healing session begins when a practitioner uses non-invasive & gentle touch to lightly place their hands on the body – or just above the body of themselves or their client. This enables a practitioner to become "attuned" to energy blocks. Reiki energy is then used to guide & release any stagnant energy, while encouraging healthy, & positive energy to flow in its place.

Usui Reiki Healing Treatment

• PREP FOR YOUR SESSION: There will be a 5-10 minute assessment focusing on any physical, mental, emotional, & spiritual problems you would like to dissolve in your life. During this brief consultation I will get to know you a little better. Then we will talk about your intention/expectations with reiki. I can also answer any further questions you may have.

• ACTIVE REIKI HEALING TREATMENT: While you lay rested on a padded massage table, your healing session will feel very much like a gradual releasing of unnecessary tension as you enter a deeply meditative or trance-like state. During your treatment I will place my hands non-invasively in a specific sequence & pattern over your body. My hands will likely become hot, but not uncomfortably so. You may also experience some light tingling or twitching in the areas where my hands are positioned.

• AFTER YOUR SESSION: I devote 5-10 minutes where you may talk about any feelings, emotions, sensations, & images that came up for you during the session. As well, I may dedicate a little time if you would like counsel on building tools/goals to help conquer additional blocks, & further integrate wellness practices in your daily life to reinforce your healing journey.
